… Today we said farewell to Michael Jackson the “King of Pop“. Jackson’s public memorial service was held today (July 7th, 09) at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.
A wonderful gospel choir opened the service, with Michael Jackson’s coffin being carried in at centre stage by his brothers. All brothers walked in wearing a white glove in honor of their late brother. All of Jackson’s family and friends attended the service including Michael Jackson’s three children, Prince Michael, Paris Katherine, Prince Michael II (Blanket) whom all appeared on stage during a group performance of “Heal the World.”
After the song “Heal the World” was finished, Jackson’s 11yr old daughter Paris grab hold of the mic and said with tears in her eyes, “I just want to say ever since I was born, Daddy has been the best father you can ever imagine and I just want to say I love him so much.“
The touching service included special performances from Mariah Carey, Jennifer Hudson, Usher and Stevie Wonder. Perhalps the most beautiful part of the service was when Jermaine Jackson performed Michael’s favorite song, “Smile“. Speakers included long-time friend Brook Shields and Civil rights leader Reverend Al Sharpton.
